BOSTON, MA—July 1, 2021—IHRSA, the Global Health and Fitness Association, is pleased to announce that Active Entities Consulting of Marblehead, MA, has joined the association as an Industry Partner. Active Entities is committed to working with IHRSA to generate grassroots support for the GYMS (Gym Mitigation and Survival) Act and other important industry initiatives.

Active Entities is a consulting firm specializing in supporting independently owned health clubs, medical fitness facilities, tennis clubs, and boutique fitness entities around the world.

“IHRSA has been working with Bobby Verdun, Geoff Hampton, and the Active Entities team to leverage our collective networks to pass the GYMS Act and help clubs succeed,” said Jay Ablondi, IHRSA’s executive vice president of global products.

To that end, Jeff Perkins, IHRSA’s vice president of government relations, will present the latest news on the GYMS Act at the Active Entities event, “The Summit at Cedardale,” on Tuesday, August 3, in Haverhill, MA. The event will include top industry and celebrity presenters, networking opportunities, a trade show, and more. Pam O’Donnell, IHRSA’s vice president of member experience and development, will be on hand to answer any questions club operators have about the new tiered structure of IHRSA membership and the benefits of each level. Attendees can also expect updates about the upcoming 40th Anniversary IHRSA International Convention and Trade Show from October 13-15 in Dallas, TX.

“Our team is very much looking forward to working with IHRSA’s incoming President & CEO Elizabeth Clark and collaborating with the dedicated staff at IHRSA to create pathways of support for independently owned clubs around the world,” said Bobby Verdun, founder and president of Active Entities Consulting.

If passed by Congress, the GYMS Act (H.R. 890/S. 1613) will create a $30 billion fund to provide grants to health and fitness businesses that the COVID-19 pandemic has uniquely hurt. To date, there are 140 U.S. House Reps. that have signed on in support and 9 Senate co-sponsors of the bill. “We are also thrilled that Geoff Hampton will be sharing his expertise on how club operators can grow their membership back and exceed pre-pandemic levels at IHRSA 2021 in Dallas,” added Ablondi.
