Stories from Boston Marathon runners and spectators

Photo by Brad SpiegelThere were undoubtedly scores of IHRSA staff, IHRSA members and those related to them that either ran the Boston Marathon on Monday or lined the streets to cheer.

Like everyone else, they had different reasons to take on the grueling, 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to Boston, crossing six other communities in between, as a runner, or spend the day yelling for mostly strangers.

We welcome submissions from IHRSA members, members of IHRSA clubs, and anyone else associated with them, who ran or was one of millions of spectators along the route. E-mail them to with a photo (if possible).

The following are their reasons, in their words, why they ran and what it means to them. Check back as we expect to add more as submissions come in.

The Stick on display at Boston Marathon expo

The Stick at the New York City Marathon expo. The Stick/RPI of Atlanta will be featuring its revolutionary products during the John Hancock Sport & Fitness Expo, the weekend prior to the Boston Marathon.

Staff will give demonstrations and inform all of the runners and attendees of the expo—April 18-20 at the Hynes Convention Center, which is at the final half mile of the route—on the benefits of The Stick, which include faster recovery, pinpointing muscle problems and finding solutions.

The expo is free to the public and will have more than 180 of the running industry's top companies, including adidas, ElliptiGO, New Balance, Reebok, and Life is good.

Visit for more information or visit their booth next weekend.
