Schwinn Class Tamer App Garners Award

StairMaster, which markets and distributes Schwinn indoor group cycling, and Pinckney Hugo Group, which created the app, won in the Sports category. According to a press release the app “surpassed the basic standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work.”

“It was truly a collaborative effort that led to the Schwinn Class Tamer App,” said Merrill Richmond, vice president of sales and marketing, StairMaster, in the press release. “Together, with Pinckney Hugo Group, we were able to develop the premier music player for group exercise professionals. It is a tool organized intuitively with large, easy-to-read fonts and controls to help them stay organized while they energize their classes.”

Nautilus joins StairMaster and Schwinn at Core Fitness

In the annals of the health and fitness industry one would be hardpressed to find three more iconic brands than Schwinn, StairMaster and Nautilus.

Now, all three are under one roof.

Core Fitness, LLC, which already markets Schwinn Indoor Cycling products and StairMaster, recently signed an agreement to manufacture and market the legendary Nautilus commercial brand.

“We’re very excited to offer Nautilus commercial equipment along with our other best of breed brands, StairMaster and Schwinn Fitness,” said Merrill Richmond, vice president of Sales and Marketing at Core Fitness LLC.

IHRSA30 is THE Place to Be!

If a sold-out exhibition and explosive innovation are any indication, then IHRSA’s 30th Anniversary International Convention and Trade Show, which will be held next month, March 16-19, in San Francisco, testifies both to the industry’s ongoing strength, undiminished optimism, and future promise. Reviewing the list of supplier companies that will be exhibiting at the show, I’m struck—nearly overwhelmed—by the number that will be unveiling brand-new products or services. Big companies, small companies—it doesn’t matter: they all have something fresh to offer.

A few examples:

The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) will be describing its Biggest Loser Live Training, which capitalizes on the popularity of the television show, while CYBEX, the official equipment provider for the program, will be displaying its new 770T Treadmill. Batuka USA and Savvier Fitness will both be demonstrating exciting new dance-based routines—in the case of the latter, the provocatively named Booty Beat.

On the equipment side, we also have, among others, the Keiser Corporation, with its new M3 Total Body Trainer; Life Fitness, with its Integrity Series of cutting-edge cardiovascular equipment; Paramount Fitness, which will be spotlighting its XFT Functional Trainer; Precor, which will be introducing its impressive new Experience Series cardio line; StairMaster, which will be staging the world premier of the StepMill5; and Technogym, which will confirm its high-tech credentials with its new mywellness key and VISIOWEB options.

But equipment is just the glistening tip of the trade-show iceberg. From check-in systems, to club-management software, to design services, to eco-friendly flooring, to consulting expertise, to locker-room amenities, to tanning beds, to marketing programs, to trainer-accreditation courses—the list of offerings is virtually endless—every square inch of a club, every aspect of its operation, are accounted for, and attended to, on the trade-show floor.

For club operators interested in growing their business, is there a better place to be?

…I don’t think so.
