Last week the club, located in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass., saw legendary coach Nick Bollettieri for his annual visit. The coach to such superstars as Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova has been coming north for 10 years. While at the club he gave private lessons, conducted group drills and gave motivational speeches to adult players, parents and the Academy’s junior players.

“Nick is a prime example of the virtues and rewards of discipline, commitment and hard work,” said Todd Carpenter, director of Tennis at Manchester Athletic Club, in a press release. “He has spoken all over the world about how to become and stay number one. Invaluable lessons for our program and for the next generation of tennis players.”

Bollettieri has a book coming out next month on his life, including his teaching and what he has learned, on and off the court.
