Together we can create a healthier nation

Harnessing the power of U.S. health clubs to create a culture of wellness and encourage Americans of all ages and physical conditions to make regular physical activity part of their healthy lifestyle.

Get off the sidelines.

Together we can make the healthy choice the easy choice by influencing policies that encourage physical activity and health club use.

  • Legislation

Promoting physical activity as a preferred solution to obesity, chronic disease, and rising healthcare costs. Working to remove financial barriers to health club membership.

  • Partnerships

Increasing our industry’s voice and reach by partnering with trusted organizations, including The President’s Council, American Cancer Society, NCPPA, and more.

  • Shaping Opinion

Promoting our industry’s contributions to good physical and mental health, stress relief, productivity, and prosperity through IHRSA research, interviews, and commentary.

  • Organizing for Action

Engaging club operators, industry professionals, and even fitness consumers to support policies that encourage physical activity and a strong business environment.

The Health and Fitness Recovery Act of 2020

Previous relief packages passed in Washington provided some assistance, but the relief was not available to all clubs, and what was, was not nearly enough for these businesses to survive. Join Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) in supporting the bipartisan Health and Fitness Recovery Act of 2020 (H.R.8485). This bill is designed to address the health and fitness industry’s unique and pressing needs by creating a $30 billion grant program to provide direct assistance to America’s health and fitness clubs.
