IHRSA and EOSE Kick Off EU Employer Skills Survey

BOSTON—October 16, 2018—The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) are delighted to announce the launch of the first EU Skills Survey embracing sport and physical activity across the EU.

The two associations share a mission to build a more active society and ensure we have a skilled workforce to deliver a successful future.

Building on their memorandum of understanding signed in London at the European Congress in 2017, the two organizations are delighted to announce that IHRSA became a full partner in the European Sector Skills Alliance for Sport and Physical Activity, a three-year project led by EOSE and funded by the EU under Erasmus Plus.

Detailed research and consultation is underway at a national level across the EU to track employment in our growing and changing sector to build the first employment and skills map. Too little is known about the true level and structure of the labour market in the EU. The project aims to address this gap, which is a fundamental first step to ensure we have education and training available to meet the needs of employment and to develop the skills needed to increase physical activity and improve health.

The next step is to consult employers on the skills they need. We need your view on the realities facing businesses, so we are asking:

• What skills do you look for in your key staff?
• Do you have difficulties recruiting the staff you need?
• Do current qualifications seem understandable to you and relevant to your needs?

Now is the time to join with other employers across the sector in Europe to tell us what you think.

The EU Employer Skills Survey goes live in all main EU languages this week, beginning October 16.
