The event, sponsored for the third year by Precor, attracted 74 health club professionals from around the world to participate in the four-day executive education program. Institute classes offered a curriculum that included courses in financial management, profit center management, customer service, personnel management, and advertising, among others. "We intentionally limit the size of the Institutes classes so as to foster a more intensive and interactive learning environment for the dedicated industry professionals who typically attend this meeting," said John McCarthy, IHRSAs executive director. "What we have also found is that this meeting offers a fantastic networking opportunity that brings industry professionals from around the world together with the very best faculty our industry has to offer." "This was my second year at the IHRSA Institute, and it is one of the most valuable resources in the club industry," said Edward Tait, sales & marketing director for the Yuba City Racquet Club. "The combination of the incredible information learned in the classes and the networking and sharing with others in the industry is a powerful match." "The IHRSA Institute for Professional Club Management is a conference not to be missed, especially if you are in management," observed Scott Lewandowski, Director of Health and Fitness for the Union Station Multiplex in Chicago, IL. "The sessions are interactive and provide effective ideas to implement in your club," continued Lewandowski. "And the friendships and contacts you make with people from clubs from around the world are priceless."
