Tax Debate in PA Threatens Sales Tax on Health Clubs

ALERT: ADVOCACY NEEDED

  • Property tax reform continues to be the hot-button in Pennsylvania, where lawmakers are considering a proposal to pay for the elimination of the tax, in part, with a new levy on health club dues. The Senate Finance Committee is currently considering Senate Bill 76, which would expand the sales tax to a number of currently untaxed services, including those provided by Pennsylvania health clubs.
  • Proponents of Senate Bill 76 have been ratcheting up their advocacy efforts. Therefore, it is extremely important that those of us who oppose a tax on healthy lifestyles speak up now and in large numbers.
