IHRSA VP Appointed to Tennis Industry Association Board of Directors

Boston – December 8, 2010– The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), the trade association for the club industry, announced that Meredith Poppler, vice president of industry growth at IHRSA, was recently appointed to the Tennis Industry Association (TIA) board of directors.

The TIA is the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to the growth of tennis, and is comprised of manufacturers, court builders, teaching pros, facilities, retailers, professional tours, media and organizations such as the U.S. Tennis Association. As IHRSA’s representative, Poppler represents the club operator component.

A life-long tennis enthusiast, Poppler brings 20 years of industry expertise to the TIA Board, as she has been representing the IHRSA club industry since 1992. As Vice President of Industry Growth, Poppler works to support the global fitness industry by establishing strategic alliances with like-minded organizations through fundraising to support advocacy efforts to protect and promote the fitness industry. Poppler also manages public relations and marketing for the Winchester Tennis Association in her hometown of Winchester, Massachusetts.

Poppler’s first priority as TIA board member is to build the educational component of the 30th Anniversary International Convention & Trade Show to ensure that there is pertinent programming for tennis and racquet club operators. Together with the TIA, she developed the following educational sessions:

Scott Schultz, Managing Director, Recreational Tennis, United States Tennis Association (USTA)

"I am thrilled to join the TIA board of directors,” says Poppler. “My first TIA board meeting was an eye-opening experience.
