Each year, IHRSA monitors and tracks hundreds of pieces of legislation in all 50 state legislatures. Many of these bills could have a direct, harmful impact on the bottom‐lines of IHRSA clubs. IHRSA is always standing ready to notify member clubs when their advocacy is needed.
Promoting the Industry
At both the state and the federal level, IHRSA promotes positive health promotion legislation that provides tax-credits and incentives for healthy lifestyles. The recently launched Vision for a Healthier, More Prosperous America is a unified game plan to change the way our nation views health care and primary prevention. IHRSA also supports the First Lady's Let's Move! campaign and the President's Council on Fitness Sports & Nutrition.
Defending the Industry
IHRSA defends the industry by preventing state legislatures from implementing harmful consumer protection legislation, restricting automatic renewals, licensing personal trainers and taxing membership dues.

A national grassroots project bringing together exercise enthusiasts to make healthy lifestyles a priority for all Americans.
2. Get involved in the IHRSA Grassroots Initiative
Take action to make America a healthier place by educating legislators about the importance of regular exercise. Our online advocacy campaigns allow you to easily reach out to lawmakers.
3. Join the Public Policy Council
The PPC is made up of club owners from all types of club companies as well as industry suppliers that support IHRSA's Industry Defense Fund so that the industry has the resources to protect itself from harmful legislation, and are positioned to take advantage of positive nationwide opportunities.
