About the IHRSA Institute

The IHRSA Institute is an executive management course that provides three full days of graduate-level education. Club operators are immersed in all the skills necessary to successfully run a health & fitness club. The IHRSA Institute is a must-attend event for club professionals who are serious about advancing their careers and connecting with some of the most respected and forward-thinking leaders in the industry.

John McCarthy Merit Scholarship

As IHRSA’s Executive Director for 25 years, John McCarthy always sought a better way to do things - at IHRSA and for the industry as a whole. The Institute was an important meeting for John because it was a way to give back and help grow the best and brightest in the industry. With that in mind, creating a scholarship to the Institute seemed a fitting way to honor John upon his retirement in 2006.

Curt & Jane Beusman Institute Scholarship

Curt & Jane Beusman were among the early founders and supporters of IHRSA and were passionate and deeply involved with the health club industry. Their willingness to support the growth of the industry and give back have greatly contributed to the success of IHRSA and numerous club operations throughout the world. Both were committed to making the industry better by sharing advice and ideas and educating those in the industry.

As a tribute to their contributions to improving, supporting, and educating the health and fitness club industry, one scholarship will be awarded to The IHRSA Institute each year.

The Beusman Family will make a matching donation of up to $5,000 per year for the scholarship.

Donations to the Scholarship Fund can be mailed to:
