Professors add to cachet of IHRSA Institute faculty

We tout the IHRSA Institute as “graduate-level education” because of the top-notch instruction, relevant networking and team building events, and a streamlined format. It’s where up-and-comers and those hoping to move up in the health and fitness industry come to learn.

So it stands to reason that there will be the look and feel of going to college.

Being held at the lush, green University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in a prototypical college town, the look is definitely there. The Institute faculty will also feature two UNC professors – in addition to the strong health and fitness industry leaders speaking – who will instill their knowledge and expertise to the close to 100 attendees, giving it an even more college feel.

The Institute runs Tuesday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 8, at the Rizzo Conference Center at the Kenan-Flagler Business School on the UNC campus.

Career improvement, networking tops list for new Institute attendees

David Castillo Dominici / FreeDigitalPhotos.netThe upcoming IHRSA Institute is the one event in the health and fitness industry where you can improve your career with sessions and faculty that provide a small-group setting and personal education. It has been shown many times over with past graduates who are leaders in the industry, their clubs and businesses, and their community.

That is one of the main reasons why up-and-comers and those who are looking to the next step in their professional career decide to attend. It can be a new position or just doing a better job at the one they are at. The IHRSA Institute provides graduate-level education that can easily and immediately be instituted back at the attendees’ company.

And working with, and learning from, names like Brent Darden, Sandy Franco, Bonnie Patrick Mattalian, Mark Miller, Debra Siena, and more, cries out success and professional movement.

The IHRSA Institute, which is Aug. 5-8 at Kenan-Flagler Business School on the campus of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, is back after a five-year hiatus. The all-inclusive event features graduate-level education with top-notch educators – many of whom are Institute graduates - in small classroom settings. Over the four days there are many networking, team building and social events that give attendees plenty of time to commiserate with classmates and educators alike.

Read on to see what new attendees hope to get out of the Institute.

Past attendees rave about IHRSA Institute

Suffice to say that Lisa Gorsline got something out of the IHRSA Institute.

The president and general manager at Corpus Christi Athletic Club in Texas not only attended the last event in 2009 - one year after her inaugural Institute – but she was the first person to register for this year’s event.

“I didn’t know what to expect in 2008 but from my very first day I was really happy (I decided to go) and was excited to be there,” she said. “My experience was a lot better than I expected it to be. The education sessions, as well as the team (building), inspired me and helped me boost morale (back at Corpus Christi). It took me to the next level and helped me learn new management skills. To be able to bring that back to the club was phenomenal.”
