Doctor wants sedentary lifestyles to be considered a medical condition

Contrary to popular belief, a sedentary lifestyle is not limited to the obese. Being inactive can result in diabetes, high blood pressure, joint damage and other health problems.

A Mayo Clinic researcher explains that those who work in an office setting and patients who are immobilized, among others, can be put into this category.

Not all products are as advertised

As more and more people are discovering the benefits of getting in shape, fitness industry products are taking advantage. And with the Olympics the past couple weeks it is in our face even more. 

A team of University of Oxford (U.K.) researchers with the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine looked into the need of products – many that don’t work. 

At the forefront are those that help athletes increase performance and claim to improve muscle recovery. The pored over 550 studies and found that millions of dollars are being spend on products that not only don’t work but may cause harm.
