New CrossFit documentary is out

David Castillo Dominici /

You do high intensity interval training at your gym. And you have seen the CrossFit Games on TV.

So, of course the dream of participating has crossed your mind.

A good way to separate the dreamers from the realists is to check out the latest CrossFit Inc., documentary, The Test of Fitness. It talks to participants and organizers, and shows the grueling competition and then you truly have to be in the top 1% fittest to even consider it.

Smart headphones on the way from Apple

Apple has been granted a patent that has its headphones tracking health and fitness data.

The headphone, with sensors in both ears, could relay data through an iOS cord or wireless Bluetooth. Information on heart rate, temperature and more could be obtained through one’s movement and activity levels.

The new headphones could be part of Apple’s talked-about App, Healthbook, which tracks one’s vitals over time, or the rumored smartwatch.

Get to know health professionals

A good personal trainer will get to know their clients. It is a great way to really know who they are and what they need, fitness-wise. However, the relationship is not always reciprocal.

The American Council on Exercise is changing that with PROfiles, a new national campaign that features ACE-certified professionals who share their personal life, reasons for choosing their profession, clients who motivate them, and other experiences, in contributed videos.

The hope is to motivate the general population to get excited and inspired to live a healthy lifestyle.

Garage work

There is a commercial currently being aired in the U.S. during the Olympics about great things that started in garages – the Ramones, Amazon, the Wright Brothers and Cadllac, the company that paid for the commercial.

There is a company in the fitness industry that can say the same – Technogym. Company founder Nerio Alessandri started the company 30 years ago after he was unimpressed with the equipment at a club he visited while he also felt clubs were geared only to bodybuilders.

Alesasndri went from selling one piece of equipment to a club, from out of his garage, to now only of the biggest global companies.
