Learn more about member tendencies with latest Trend Report

Are you a health club owner or operator and are curious about the trends of your members? Of course you are.

The latest IHRSA Trend Report, which is conducted in partnership with Leisure Trends Group, is one a club in any community in any state in the U.S. can use. Volume 3, Issue 2 looks into feelings about health clubs by marital status, income level and sports participation, from health club consumers 16 years old and up.

Knowing the feelings, concerns and ideas of those who live in close proximity to your locations can help with marketing, advertising and programming.

The factors of income, marital status and sports participation are used to see who is joining and using clubs, why they are joining, and why they may leave a club.

"Although health club members tend to be affluent and active, health club operators have many opportunities to attract prospects of various income levels as well as non-sports participants," said Jay Ablondi, IHRSA's executive vice president of Global Products. "The latest installment of The IHRSA Trend Report suggests marketing and programming ideas to attract underrepresented groups such as 'pay-as-you-go' plans and workshops for fitness novices."

One area that is particularly interesting and useful is why members remain with their current clubs. For those making more than $80,000 a year aspects like equipment variety and making the most of the cost of the membership are top reasons. By marital status, those who are married cited overall health/wellbeing as being one of the top reasons.
