Study says if you volunteer you will feel better

Doing volunteer work makes you feel good. A new study cement those feelings, but in the being healthy sense.

A report by UnitedHealth Group and the Optum Institute found that three-fourths of the 3,551 U.S. adults in the survey said they felt better, physically, after volunteering, and 78% felt less stress in their life.

Studies also show that volunteering helps you attain a job, get more accomplished at your job and helps develop teamwork and social skills.

Gold’s Gym strengthens Mid Atlantic presence

Gold’s Gym recently made an acquisition that will make it one of the most visible health club chains in the Washington, D.C., area.

Gold’s Gym acquired 17 Fitness First Health Clubs in the Maryland-Washington, D.C.-Virginia area, bringing the number in that region to 49.

“Gold’s Gym strives to help our members realize and achieve their fitness potential, and we’re looking forward to continuing the great work that we’ve done here in D.C. with our new members and associates joining us from Fitness First,” said Jim Snow, the CEO and president of Gold’s Gym.

Opening a club? Location is key

The real estate mantra, “Location, Location, Location,” includes opening a health club, too.

Seeing those looking to join a club, or at least attend one, take convenience into consideration. That could mean proximity to their home or work, or one in town that is easy to get to.

Another consideration for those thinking about opening a club is what is better for them, buying or leasing the property. A couple factors that come into play with this choice is finances – isn’t is always? – and plans for the future, like expansion, changes to the structure, etc.

Company succeeding with fitness-crazy society

With the health club industry health and strong, according to the IHRSA Global Report, it is no surprise that manufacturers of the equipment the tens of millions of people across the world are seeing success.

One company that is also doing well is Global Fitness, which refurbishes used equipment.

CEO Michael Citrone explained that they can be successful because so many people are turning to exercise to better their lives.
