Support for Boston has been endless

Police stop Boston Marathon runners one mile from the finish line after two bombs exploded.At times like this, during horrific tragedies, this country comes together like no other. The bombings at the Boston Marathon was no different.

Numerous business, clubs and friends of the fitness industry have voiced their concerns, sympathies, and support. 

Below are some of the hundreds of notes, offers and “thinking of you” from those in the fitness and health industry.  

Former NASM director at finish line

Dr. Lyle Micheli, former director of the NASM, who has been the finish line medical director at the Boston Marathon since the 1970s, talks about being some of the first to respond to the bomb explosions.

Life Time Fitness Running Club accounted for

Life Time Fitness has reported that all 100 of the Life Time Fitness Running Club members who were running in the Boston Marathon are accounted for an OK.

NASM trainer’s column

Jay Donelson, a certified personal trainer for NASM, wrote a column on about how this terrible tragedy happened right in front of invited guests – 9/11, Newtown school shooting – who are already attempting to overcome tragedy.

Foundation can help wounded remain active

Challenged Athletes Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports people with physical disabilities to pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive sports, is supporting the victims in a few ways. 

It has reached out to Boston hospitals to let them know those affected can use CAF with its mentors, clinics and assistance with prosthetics for sports, as well as attend a free running clinic in Boston in October. CAF will also be inviting victims to the San Diego Triathlon Challenge to join hundreds of other challenged athletes.

Elmwood Fitness Center members and friends are OK

The New Orleans Times-Picuyane reported that Elmwood Fitness Center told them that any members of its group of clubs who ran or were in Boston were unharmed.
