According to IHRSA’s recent research the health and fitness industry is looking pretty good.

The $75 billion industry has approximately 150,000 facilities that boast 132 million members. It may be hard to put those numbers in perspective, but, these are not difficult to understand: the U.S. health club industry has improved year-over-year for three consecutive years in all nine categories, including non-dues revenue and EBITDAR (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and rent), according to the IHRSA Index. 

Another sign that shows the vitality of the industry was the excitement at IHRSA’s 32nd Annual International Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where 11,500 from the industry attended the annual event. Additionally, the trade show floor, with more than 38,000 square feet of space, sold out and was reeling with excitement.

With the interest at an all-time high, and clubs and centers coming out of the dark economic downturn, that means renovations, improvements, new equipment and more must be on the horizon.
