Running on Sand

Last week we were introduced to Sproing, a treadmill designed to mimick the feel of running on sand. One of the executives behind the new technology, Paul Toback, has a long history in the fitness industry as the ex-CEO of Bally Total Fitness. It was his novel experience of running on sand to ease his back pain that was the influence behind the new piece of equipment.

Victoria's Trainer Growth

The number of trainers in Australia's second most populous state, Victoria, has increased 1,000 percent in the past three years. Experts are speculating on the reason for the increase; some say it's due to better marketing campaigns by certifying body. 

Talwalkars Expansion

The Indian health club brand Talwalkars Hi-fi continues its rapid expansion, aiming to open 35-40 clubs in the next six months. The Hi-fi clubs, which stand for "Healthy India Fit India," are concentrated in India's small cities and towns, rather than densely populated urban areas.
