IHRSA Trend Report is a quarterly report that tracks membership trends and consumer attitudes’ towards health club membership. This report is prepared by the Leisure Trends Group and provides insight into opportunities for club operators.
For the quarter ending September 30, 2011:
- 16% of Americans were members of a health club in the 3rd Quarter
- Generation X & Y Americans are most likely to belong to a health club
- Nearly half of members join clubs to lose weight (48%)
- Three out of five members continue using their clubs for overall health/well-being (61%)
- Men were more likely than women to leave because they were not using the club
