Wellness & Health Promotion

The World Health Organization defines Health Promotion as the art and science of "enabling people to increase control over and improve their health."

IHRSA Health Promotion:

Making the case that physical activity is part of the solution for the healthcare, chronic disease, and obesity crises.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 7 out of every 10 deaths in the U.S. result from chronic diseases, which are largely preventable with a healthy lifestyle and exercise.

With programs like Get Active America! and I Lost It at the Club, the Joining Forces Network and the annual Summit for a Healthier America in Washington, DC, IHRSA is determined to convince the world that exercise is part of the solution to the healthcare and obesity crises.
