Wall Street Journal runs story on Summit

It is great when those in the IHRSA family share ideas, accomplishments and goings-on in the industry.

When what we are doing to get the word about all the good things exercise does is then broadcasted on a national or international level, that is icing on the cake.

The Wall Street Journal ran a press release about the recently completed IHRSA Summit for a Healthier America. This is the two-day even in Washington, D.C., where IHRSA and members get together to talk about important issues and ways to get the word out. There are also scores of meetings set up between attendees and their legislators on Capitol Hill.

VIDEO: Why did you attend the Summit for a Healthier America?

The 11th Annual IHRSA Summit for a Healthier America is an opportunity for club operators and industry professionals to get together to network. More importantly, it is a chance to help combat the obesity and the physical inactivity epidemics by showing those on Capitol Hill how the industry can become part of the solution with primary prevention and healthy programs.

We asked some of those in attendance why they came. The answers ranged from networking, to showing what they are doing in their community to talking to legislators.

But do the people who should really be aware and can make similar impacts – your representation on Capitol Hill – hear all of the good stories and realize how it can affect every U.S. resident?

The 11th Annual Summit for a Healthier America, on May 14-15 at the Top of the Hill Banquet and Conference Center in Washington, D.C., is your chance to let them know. There are also many opportunities to brainstorm with colleagues by sharing ideas and coming up with new ones.

The Summit is sponsored by the American Council on Exercise and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
