What is the best reservation method for classes?

Group classes—boot camps, spinning, Zumba, or anything else offered at health clubs—can be a great asset. They can bring in members, cushion retention rates, and if there is a cost in addition to one’s membership, added revenue for the club.

At the same time there can be pitfalls associated with classes, like friends reserving spots and pushing others out, classes being sold out, very few (or no) sign-ups not making it cost-effective, among others.

There are many ways to avert the problems. Some clubs go with online reservation software, while others are old school with a first-come, first-served method where numbers are passed out. 

Some clubs even opt for the path of least resistance by just offering new class times when a popular class routinely fills up.
