Paul Byrne, Precor president, to retire in September

After 28 years at Precor, 13 of them as president, Paul Byrne has announced his retirement.

Byrne has a long and storied career in the fitness industry. He started as the co-founder of Concept 90, a chain of stores that helped introduce the concept of specialty fitness retail in the United States. He moved on to become the vice president of Sales and Marketing at Precor, then a relatively new company, in 1985.

Some of his accomplishments include: helping build a $350 million company from a $20 million manufacturer of home rowing machines; Precor often recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work"; introduced the Elliptical Fitness Cross-Trainer, now the second-largest category of home cardio equipment.

Rob Barker, who has been with Precor since 1995, will take over as president.

"Paul is a strong leader who is responsible for so very much of the success enjoyed by the Precor team," said Joe Moore, IHRSA president and CEO. "I'm sure Rob will build on that success, giving Precor a bright future for years to come."
