FITNESS SF Receives the Outstanding Community Service Award

The Outstanding Community Service Award is presented to an IHRSA member that has made a longstanding commitment to making a difference in, and beyond, their community. FITNESS SF is the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Community Service Award.

FITNESS SF, an IHRSA member for more than 16 years, has seven clubs in the Bay Area. The group has been deeply involved in the San Francisco community for over 26 years. Among some examples of their commitment to the community are partnerships with Lighthouse for the Blind, Zero Breast Cancer, and the Salvation Army.

“We are honored to be recognized as the 2017 recipient of the IHRSA Outstanding Community Service Award,” said Zsolt Jackovics, president of FITNESS SF. “We are trying to redefine the meaning of corporate philanthropy by forming true partnerships with the charitable organizations in our community that provide critical support for those in need.”

Outstanding Community Service Award

The 2016 Outstanding Community Service Award went to The Claremont Club

Awarded annually to recognize an IHRSA club that has made a longstanding commitment to making a difference in and beyond their community.

The inspiring stories of award recipients will be shared with IHRSA 2017 attendees during an award presentation, including a video highlighting their achievements.

IHRSA Award Applications Are Now Being Accepted

The IHRSA Awards Program recognizes members of the association for their service to their communities, their customers, and to the betterment of the health and fitness industry. Applications for four awards are now being accepted. 

IHRSA proudly pays tribute to John McCarthy - the association’s first Executive Director - by offering the John McCarthy Merit Scholarship to attend the IHRSA Institute.  Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate their passion for, and absolute commitment to, the health club industry's future, as well as provide evidence of their service, sales, and leadership skills. Don’t delay – the deadline to apply is June 5th

The application deadline of June 30th for the European Club Leadership Award is also fast approaching! The award, given to the club leader who has done the most to advance their company and the industry through strong leadership and performance, will be presented during the 15th Annual IHRSA European Congress, October 19-22, in Marseille, France.

In addition, the applications are already online for the Outstanding Community Service Award and the Woman Leader Award in honor of Julie Main. Both have a submission deadline of November 13th and will be presented during IHRSA’s 35th Annual International Convention & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida, March 21-24, 2016.

Community Service Award Applications Due Nov. 14

Ron and Sandy Franco accept the 2013 Outstanding Community Service Award from IHRSA President and CEO Joe Moore.Each year the Outstanding Community Service Award is presented to an IHRSA club that has made a longstanding commitment to making a difference in, and beyond, their community. Since the award’s inception, IHRSA has highlighted various stories of kindness and generosity to enable other clubs to find inspiration and follow suit. 

Gold’s Gym Dutchess County, a regular supporter of organizations like the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association, was presented the Outstanding Community Service Award in 2014. Owner, Kim Kenyon, and her team have a passion for helping people that serves as a tremendous example for others to emulate. Watch Gold's Gym Dutchess County's story.

In 2013, IHRSA recognized Franco’s Athletic Club whose owners, Ron and Sandy Franco, have one simple rule when it comes to requests from charities and community organizations: never say no. This philosophy resulted in the Franco’s team raising over $1.5 million and donating countless more in memberships and services to local organizations. Watch Franco's Athletic Club's story.

The 2015 Outstanding Community Service Award will be presented during IHRSA 2015 34th  Annual International Convention & Trade Show in Los Angeles during an awards presentation to include a video highlighting the winning club’s achievements. Three awards to be given out at IHRSA 2014

IHRSA ensures that the maximum number of attendees get to see the amazing efforts, triumphs and good deeds by bringing the honorees on stage prior to the general sessions speakers, which always has a packed room.

In three weeks in San Diego it will be the same when the health and fitness world is together to see this year’s winners: ABC Financial, the Associate Member of the Year; Patsy McLean, Julie Main Woman Leader Scholarship; and Gold’s Gym Dutchess County, Outstanding Community Service Award.
