How do you get members back on track?

This is the time of the year when the influx of new members coming to the club start to peeter out, and thought-out plans and goals hit snags.

Last month IHRSA posted a story in the Media Center that included motivational tips and ideas to keep people on track.

We are looking for IHRSA clubs that have ways they do this - whether it is programs, meeting with those in these two groups to get them excited again, incentives, etc.

E-mail with a quick description of what you do.

Prime promotion for IHRSA

Part of IHRSA's mission is to promote the health and fitness industry. One way we do that is by providing media outlets as much information as it needs, regardless of the size of the story.

Recently, PRIME Living, a luxury lifestyle magazine in Texas that is geared toward the affluent population, included research data from IHRSA in its HEALTH BUZZ section. The brief explained that the number of gym-goers in the 55 and older age bracket has increased by 519% since 1997.

Sometimes you never know where IHRSA will show up next. A publication in Texas reached out and we "much obliged."

You can find the brief on page 70 in the PRIME digital edition.

Tips to motivate you to continue New Year's resolutions

As winter weather hangs on and New Year’s becomes a distant memory, the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) is reminding people that their local health club is the ideal partner to help them stick with their New Year’s resolve.

Health clubs can help people stick to—or get back to—their New Year’s resolutions in many ways. Below are four key reasons why health clubs make the best fitness partners:

  • Supportive, knowledgeable, and trained professionals make it easier for people of all ages and fitness levels to build a well-balanced and enjoyable exercise routine.
  • State-of-the-art exercise equipment, a variety of classes, personal trainers, and professional instructors all ensure a wide selection of exercise options to suit each individual’s evolving interests and needs.
  • Fellow club members offer camaraderie and encouragement.
  • Health clubs offer a warm, safe, dry, motivational place to exercise, regardless of the weather or time of day.
