One-to-One: Now & Forever

Joe Weider and Lauren HuttonTwenty-five years ago, in 1988, Daniel Cooke, then the associate editor of Club Business (the predecessor of Club Business International), sat down with Joe Weider, the multitalented and multifaceted fitness industry pioneer. The topic of their conversation was “The Art of Self Promotion,” but, as the resulting article in Club Business demonstrated, Weider wasn’t interested in promoting himself—he was interested in promoting strength training, proper nutrition, regular physical activity, other healthy lifestyle behaviors … and all and everyone interested in. A tribute to visionary Joe Weider

In the annals of body builders and the industry there aren't many Joe Weider would take a seat to.

The visionary from Montreal, who started as a teenager in 1936 with stapled copies of Your Physique, passed away last week at the age of 93 (although there isn't much documentation of his age).

Jim Schmaltz, an editor for IHRSA's Get Active! magazine and also an editor for Muscle and Body magazine, knew Weider and wrote a tribute to the legend in the industry.
