City of Dallas doesn't want to be 'Big D', as far as weight is concerned

Image courtesy of Raktim Chatterjee/FreeDigitalPhotos.netFor city workers in Dallas, "Big D" stands for something other than the nickname of its city.

Of the more than 21,000 people insured under the city's health plan, more than 80 percent are overweight. That is taxing the city due to an array of health problems. The mayor is hoping to see changes with incentives for healthier lifestyles, including $20 off insurance premiums if a certain amount of points is accumulated.

The rest of the country is not immune to the obesity epidemic as nearly two of every three people are considered obese.
