The 2017 IHRSA Institute in Photos

During the first week in August more than 80 fitness industry professionals gathered at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School for The IHRSA Institute, sponsored by ABC Financial, American Council on Exercise (ACE), Core Health & Fitness, MYZONE, and Power Systems.

The IHRSA Institute proved, once again, to be an invaluable event that fosters leadership through first-class education, networking, and mentoring. Over the course of four days, attendees participated in executive-level sessions on topics from sales to finance, networked during meals and receptions, and shared experiences and strategies during roundtable discussions. And some even got their sweat on during daily early-morning workouts.

Whether you missed out or just want to reminisce about the experience, take a look at some of the photo highlights from this year.

Getting an Early Start

You know it's a great IHRSA Institute group when this many people show up to the early morning workout.

Scholarship Recipients Recognized

This year's IHRSA Institute scholarship recipients, Melinda Tempest, owner of Ballarat Body & Soul Health & Fitness Studio in Ballarat, Australia and Matthew Wright, senior director of fitness for Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness in Glastonbury, CT were recognized on the first night. Here they are with their certificates.

High-yield Networking

Alumni of the event regularly tout the lifelong friendships they made at The IHRSA Institute, and this year was no exception. Attendees formed lasting connections during the many receptions, roundtable discussions, and group meals.

Learning at Executive-level Sessions

More than a dozen sessions were offered, on topics like strategic planning, innovation, financial management, staffing, digital strategies, member experience, and more.

Dining at DuBose Hall

Meals, which were included in the event package, were held at UNC's historic DuBose Hall.

The Famous IHRSA Institute Logo Swap

Each year, attendees bring their company's swag to exchange with others. This year's logo swap was one of the best yet!

The Traditional Group Photo

Not a bad-looking group, if we do say so ourselves.

Writing Goal Letters

The week wrapped up with a discussion that included sharing lessons learned and helping to create a roadmap for successfully integrating new ideas upon returning home. Attendees wrote letters to themselves outlining their goals for the future. Their self addressed and sealed envelopes will be mailed by IHRSA in three months.

Congratulations to the Class of 2017!

Because the IHRSA Institute wouldn't be complete without a graduation ceremony.
