How Boom Fitness Earned $8,000 from Their Mobile App

This is an associate feature post, sponsored by Netpulse.

A health club mobile app can quickly become a fitness facility’s most productive sales tool. From getting referrals and converting prospects into members, to promoting PT sales, the most successful clubs are using their mobile app to generate real revenue.

Boom Fitness is one of those successful clubs. There are two Boom Fitness locations in Oregon, with a combined 8,000 members and average monthly dues of $24.95. The clubs are led by District Manager Kyle Young, who has been instrumental in leveraging their mobile app for club growth.

Here are the top takeaways from Boom Fitness’ successful mobile app strategy.

1. Replace Keytags

Boom Fitness eliminated plastic keytags. Every new member downloads the app and use the digital barcode to check in.

2. Launch Rewards

Each time a member checks in at Boom, they earn one point in the club’s rewards program. Invite a friend that joins? Earn 100 points. Members redeem points for free prizes, all through the app.

3. Ask for Referrals

Boom is obsessed with referrals. Using their app, members can invite friends from their contacts by simply sending a text message. These leads are automatically stored in their CRM.

4. Sell Personal Training

Boom uses their app to sell personal training. By sending push alerts to just the members in the club, they fill empty PT sessions with prospects and delight them with a great session.

5. Request Feedback

For Boom, it’s all about data. Members are prompted to provide feedback through their app, giving Boom real-time insights on which members to upsell or prevent from cancelling.

In the first 90 days of launching all of these features, Boom Fitness ended up with a whopping 736 referral leads and 20 new member joins, resulting in $8,000 of new lifetime membership revenue.
