Happy National Running Day!

Running is a favored pasttime of many who pursue health and fitness. There are well known health benefits to running, and many enjoy it for its stress-relieving benefits. However, running often runs deeper than a healthy heart. 

Several IHRSA staff and other industry professionals ran the Boston Marathon in 2014 and shared their experiences. 

Alison Flatley, COO of Corporate Fitness Works and current IHRSA Board Member, serves on the board of directors for Girls on the Run, on-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Girls on the Run was recently featured on IHRSA's blog for reaching over 50,000 girls (over 1 million nationally) in Northern Virginia. 

Dr. Walter Bortz - a renowned expert on aging and longjevity - Dares to Be 100 by running marathons. He was up to 43 of them in March of 2014.
