Sales Tax Threat Continues for Pennsylvania Clubs

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf recently announced his plans for his first executive budget that includes a plan to achieve property tax reform. In addition, his budget also advocates for an extension of this sales tax to include services, such as the ones that are provided at health clubs.

The governor is proposing to increase the sales tax from 6 to 6.6%, and is also looking to expand the tax base to include untaxed “amusement and recreation” services, which will likely include health club memberships.

IHRSA strongly opposes any tax proposals that would threaten healthy living practices.
