Protect Your Business From Harm: Get the 2015 Threat Report

Prior to the start of each year, IHRSA’s Government Relations team works to identify potential threats to the health club industry. By threats we mean legislation that poses to reduce club profitability or hinder facility operations in some way). The team does this by: reviewing all of the legislation introduced in the fifty states in recent years and identifying regional or national trends; analyzing political environments within each state; and gathering intelligence from local stakeholders and IHRSA’s lobbying teams.

Once a threat is identified, IHRSA works to proactively address it by educating lawmakers about the negative effects of a bill and putting into place a plan to advocate against it. The effect is that IHRSA is able to better protect the industry, preventing lawmakers from introducing bad bills and being more effective at defeating the ones that do materialize.

The 2015 Threat Report provides a summary of the threats IHRSA recognized prior to the start of the 2015 legislative sessions. One month into the sessions, we are now actively working to oppose these threats.
