Wisconsin judge upholds taxable status of a JCC

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a Wisconsin judge ruled that a Jewish Community Center water park in Mequon, Wisc., must pay property taxes, despite the JCC's lawsuit claiming the water park is a "benevolent association."

The JCC's Family Park contains an outdoor swimming pool, volleyball and basketball courts, a community room and a snack bar.

The JCC has been paying the taxes of more than $30,000 a year under protest, and in 2010 sued the city and the state Department of Revenue.
