FIBO 2014 Innovation Awards

The Slack Nut, a rocking chair. In April, attendees at FIBO, the International Trade Fair for Fitness, Wellness, and Health, finally heard what they’d been waiting to know for so long - the identities of the winners of the FIBO Innovation Awards 2014.

The awards jury selected 12 products, out of a field of 33 entries, to compete in four categories: “Training Equipment,” “Health Promotion,” “Interior and Design,” and “Training Concepts.” One winner was then selected from each.

The products considered included devices that enhance fitness via balance exercises, offer precise methods for measuring physical fitness, promote health via vibration technologies, or bring the outside world into the gym via design.

The winners are:

  • The Slack Nut, by Slack Nut GbR, a rocking “shell” that’s used for exercises to improve balance, coordination, agility, and strength
  • The new flexxvib line, by proxomed Medizintechnik, which employs vibration to provide a gentle solution for relieving back pain
  • Pixformance, from Pixformance Sports, an intelligent training concept that optimizes workouts by analyzing and evaluating the movements performed
  • The XBody Newave EMS-Gerät, by Bodyficient GmbH, which maximizes XBody EMS (electrical muscular stimulation) training by using novel EMS electrodes that are arranged to address the unique needs of each customer.

The awards were presented during FIBO, which was held at the Koelnmesse Exhibition Centre in Cologne, Germany, in cooperation with Cologne-based TÜV Rheinland, an independent provider of technical services for testing, inspection, certification, consultation, and training.
