Health Benefits of Exercise January 27th

British Journal of Sports Medicine: Exercise Is Medicine

Over the past few years, physical inactivity has been identified as an independet risk factor for chronic disease, outside of its role in promoting obesity. And last year, epidemiological data found that inactivity is the primary cause of 1 in 10 deaths, making it more deadly than smoking. Most recently, British Journal of Sports Medicine dedicated an entire issue, entitled "Exercise is Medicine 2014", to the worldwide problem of physical inactivity. This issue of the Health Benefits of Exercise summarizes three studies from the latest issue of BJSM on the benefits and cost effectiveness of exercise programs in the community.

Read the abstracts from the rest of the studies in this issue of BJSM.

In This Issue
  1. Aerobic Exercise Program Improves Health Parameters In Obese Children
  2. Physical Activity Program For Adults Is Cost Effective
  3. For Anxiety Disorders, Exercise Can Amplify Medicine And Other Treatments

Exercise... such a crucial thing for a healthy life, I just hope more people jump on the bandwagon and see how powerful it can be for them too!

I can say that exercise is a HUGE benefit that I don't think many people realize. When I was sick, I stopped exercising and I realize that my emotions completely dipped. So exercise. You won't regret it.
