Army Says 25K Soldiers Not Fit to Fight

According to the Examiner.com, the United States Army said that they will separate as many as 25,000 soldiers from the military who are deemed non-deployable. Military officials project as many as 15,000 soldiers could be discharged for anything from misconduct to not meeting required physical fitness standards, including failure to maintain an appropriate height/weight ratio (the other 10,000-11,000 could be discharged for disability).

This is one of the greatest examples of the need for a comprehensive, national strategy to fight obesity and physical inactivity. One way to get involved with IHRSA’s advocacy efforts is to attend the Summit for a Healthier America. Learn more at ihrsa.org/summit.
