Austin Club Taking on Childhood Obesity

Body Business Health Club & Spa, an IHRSA member club in Austin, Texas is fighting back against childhood obesity by offering resident teens a summer long pass to its facility.

Body Business, as reported by, is opening its doors to teens Monday through Friday for the summer, and hopes to confront a health condition that has become a national epidemic.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obesity affects two-thirds of US children, and one-third of adults. If rates continue to rise, experts say, this may be the first generation of children that does not outlive their parents.

The program’s director, Carrie Rozzell, told KVUE, “This is a great opportunity for them to learn a little bit about fitness and to find out what makes you tick. You might not be able to get a six pack, you might not be able to look like that model in the magazine, I just want you to maintain a healthy lifestyle that you can keep throughout your entire life."
