Feds More than Double Rate of Reimbursement for 2014 Medicare Advantage Programs

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the final 2014 Medicare Advantage rates earlier this month, going from a 2.3 percent rate cut to an increase of 3.3 percent. Medicare Advantage programs often offer free subsidized health club memberships to Medicare participants. CMS had initially proposed to cut the rate, but IHRSA, along with other members of the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease signed on to a letter objecting to the proposal. In the end, CMS decided to increase the rate it will pay the Medicare Advantage plans by 3.3%.
