U.S. Adults Making Progress Toward Becoming Physically Active

HHS says "U.S. adults are making progress toward becoming physically active".

The U.S. Health and Human Services department says that more American adults met the objectives for aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities in 2012 (20.6%) than they did in 2008 (18.2%). This information was contained in the annual progress report on Healthy People 2020, an initiative to improve U.S. public health by the year 2020.

Read the executive summary of the progress report here (PDF).

While progress-big or small-is cause for celebration, IHRSA acknowledges that there is still a long road ahead to seeing the majority Americans be sufficiently active. Still, it is encouraging to see more Americans take charge of their health, and IHRSA looks forward to doing our part to ensure that even more people become physically active.
