IHRSA Hits Ground Running by Combating Obesity in Minnesota

Anytime Fitness, Lifetime Fitness and Snap Fitness have launched FIT Minnesota, a campaign to increase financial incentives for physical activity. The least expensive way to reduce the incidence of preventable illnesses is to encourage physical activity. “FIT Minnesota believes we can continue our state’s leadership role by increasing incentives which encourage physical activity,” remarked Chuck Runyon, CEO, Anytime Fitness, in a press release. “Study after study has shown that incentives are working.”

The FIT Minnesota coalition includes: Anytime Fitness, Life Time Fitness, Snap Fitness, IHRSA and the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities. The Minnesota health club industry generates $8 million annually in federal and state taxes, employ 22,000 Minnesotans and count 946,000 residents as members.

Anytime Fitness, Lifetimes Fitness and Snap Fitness are all members of the Industry Leadership Council, which provides financial resources for IHRSA’s lobbying efforts, including advocating for healthier lifestyles.
