Help Fight Chronic Disease by Joining Wellness Week

Next week, September 17-23, 2012 is Wellness Week. Wellness Week's goal is to reduce chronic disease around the world.

Wellness Week was officially launched in September 2011, by the Pan American Health Organization and the World Economic Forum, to emphasize the importance of the environmental and socioeconomic conditions that modify risk factors for chronic disease, and reverse health inequities among vulnerable populations and promote prevention and active living.

Wellness Week will be celebrated in many cities in the Americas this year. However, more needs to be done to expand its popularity and to institutionalize healthy communities.
