Federal Tanning Tax Poses Difficulties for Clubs

Are you having problems with the federal excise tax on tanning services? If so, IHRSA wants to know. The Internal Revenue Service recently challenged an IHRSA member who was under the impression they were exempt from the 10% excise tax on tanning services imposed by the federal government in 2010.

If your club has been contacted by the IRS regarding the tanning tax, please contact IHRSA Government Relations at gr@ihrsa.org or (800) 228-4772. Also, you can learn more at ihrsa.org/tanning-tax.
