CEO Pledge embraced by Native Americans

IHRSA is featured this week on Be Active Your Way, the official blog of the Department of Health and Human Services, blogging about the National Indian Health Board’s recent embrace of the CEO Pledge. As described in the blog post, the NIHB has launched a thrilling new program, GO the EXTRA MILE, which strives to get employees more physically active. IHRSA writes: “The need for the initiative is urgent. According to NIHB, the age-adjusted incidence of Type 2 diabetes is higher among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) than all other US racial and ethnic groups. Furthermore, the adult obesity rate among the AI/AN population is 39 percent, while the inactivity rate is over 50 percent.
