Federal Grants for Prevention Programs Now Available to U.S. Communities

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is now offering grants to communities to help them implement projects proven to reduce chronic diseases—including programs to increase physical activity.

There are 75 Community Transformation Grants totaling over $100 million available to state and local government agencies, tribes and territories, and state and local non-profit organizations. These grants will focus on five priority areas: tobacco cessation, physical activity and nutrition, preventive medical services for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, social and emotional wellness and healthy and safe physical environments.
