America the Obese: U.S. Obesity by the Numbers

Statistics on obesity in America are everywhere. That more than 60 percent of Americans are overweight or obese is a well-known talking point by now, along with data pertaining to childhood obesity, rates of chronic disease and economic consequences.

The day-to-day effects of obesity, however, are less well known. In a compelling series on obesity in America, National Public Radio asks, “What does it mean to live in a nation where one 1 of every 3 people is obese?”
